Terry Simpson

Trained at Hornsey College of Art, the Paris School of Art, London and Hertfordshire College of Building where I studied architecture. I have worked in architecture since 1960 and in 1987 became a freelance architectural illustrator. Since 1991 I have worked in adult education teaching drawing and painting in watercolours, mixed media, oils and pastels, both as leisure subjects and to City & Guilds 7900 level.

West Herts College
I will be teaching with West Herts College during 2007/08 and as from Sept will offer the following courses:-

Painting in Watercolours at Dacorum Campus Hemel Hempstead, Friday mornings 9.00 - 11.00, 10 weeks.(Sept - Dec). Then a further 10 weeks, Jan.-Mar. and again April - June. Each course is complete in itself and has a structured programme of work.

Courses are suitable for beginners unless noted otherwise but also have established painters. I cover various subjects and the techniques associated with them - plenty of painting demos!

Missenden Abbey, Great Missenden, Bucks
I run the following courses:
'Buildings in Watercolour' instructions on how to illustrate buildings in a landscape setting.
At least a basic knowledge of watercolours required.
Weekend version:- 23-25 Jan 09.
Summer School version:- 27 July-2 Aug 08.


'Drawing & Painting in Watercolours' Thurs 9.30-15.00 10 weeks. A practical course of painting, suitable for beginners/more experienced painters. Various subjects covered. Running Jan-April, April-July. (08)
