I tutor a steady group and am not currently seeking further commitment.
Initially from NE England I have lived in and around London since 1960. I gained my NDD in Graphic design in Newcastle upon Tyne and spent 43 years as a commercial artist mostly in design and print rather than illustration. After over 25 years a a freelance I retired and taught myself to paint bit by bit. Watercolour first, then pastels, acrylics and now oils. I have tutored here and there although doing very little now. Mostly I paint to please myself but am fortunate enough to sell quite a few of my works each year. I hope you like what you see. I am always ready to discuss anything that I publish on this site and welcome constructive criticism.
I have no dedicated exhibitions booked for this year but I shall enter work for the Hertford Art Society's prestigious Annual SHow in May, The Welwyn Garden City Annual Show in July and 8 or nine others around Hertfordshire during the year.
I have won a number of awards and prizes in professionally judged local exhibitions over the last eleven years. I have also had some success in a few national competitions. However, I am of the belief that these awards a basically quite ephemeral and what really counts is the artwork itself. If you like a picture, whether awarded a prize or not, that is the most important thing.
