My Tutoring preferences are for Workshops, at which I can give as much help as possible. Although I offer both Demonstrations and Workshops to Art Groups and Societies between Liverpool and Manchester, I get a lot of pleasure and satisfaction in inspiring and encouraging beginners to find their inner artist.
As an SAA RSC, I run a Workshop every Wednesday at my SAA art group; Art Zone, at Abram, near Wigan and have been amazed at the improvement in the members work, especially amongst the beginners who joined Art Zone at its outset in February 2011.
I apply the same criteria to all of my tutoring classes, that is to offer as much one to one help as I can.
I'm a self taught Liverpool artist.
I've always been fascinated by drawing and painting, and art in general from my school days at Sefton Park Secondary Modern School, in Liverpool, where the subjects I enjoyed most were Art, Science and English.
I've travelled widely during my working days and collected many photographs and images as subjects for painting.
As a Self Employed Artist and Tutor, I give Art Demonstrations and Workshops at local art groups around a 50 mile radius centered on Liverpool and Manchester and am a Volunteer Artist at local schools and Liverpool (Walton) Prison. I also run SAA Art Zone, at Abram near Wigan. I have been until recently due to workload, a Resident Artist at The BoonRic Gallery at Inglenook Farm, Rainford, with Joanne Thomas and Eric Fleming.
My Acrylic painting "Just another day", was nominated Highly Commended in the 2011 SAA Artist of the Year Competition; out of over 6,200 submissions, just 59 paintings were recognised for such certificated awards.
I've produced a series of paintings, both Watercolour and Acrylic, to raise funds for Bletchley Park (WW11 Code Breaking Centre), and prints of these are on sale at BP, all proceeds being donated to the Bletchley Park Trust. Several of my painting at Bletchley Park been made into First Class Stamp, and First Day Covers; to celebrate the Alan Turing Centenary, 2012, three of my paintings; The Turing Bombe Room, Turing's Cottage at Bletchley Park, both of which are Watercolours, and an Acrylic on Canvas depicting a composite of the essence of Bletchley Park, have been used as Limited Edition First Day Covers. I'm very proud that two of my paintings; an Acrylic of The Colossus Machine and a Watercolour of Turing's Bombe Room were auctioned at an ACCU (computer programmers) Conference in 2011, and raised £1,200 for Bletchley Park.
I have exhibited at The Gallery Liverpool www.thegalleryliverpool.co.uk and am a Regional Society Coordinator and Professional Associate for the SAA, - The Society for All Artists.
