Sheila Bury has been earning a living from her art for some 20 years.
She lives by the River Don in Sprotbrough and draws much of her inspiration from countryside and wild life around her.

For thirteen years Sheila owned the narrow-boat, 'Sprotbro’ Painter’ moored close by her home, which she used as her studio/gallery.
However, she is not confined to English scenes having also become involved in painting the life and communities of rural France.
Having lived for some years in such disparate places as Canada and Saudi Arabia, Sheila is now extending her portfolio by drawing on the inspiration gathered in those locations.

Sheila is mostly self-taught apart from two years at Nottingham College of Art in her teens and an A level in art as a mature student on returning to live in England after eleven years abroad.

Work has been published in Yorkshire Life; Waterways World; The Artist; Leisure Painter and in local newspapers in Sheffield and Doncaster.

Sheila has held various one-person exhibitions and also accepts personal commissions. She works in oils, water colour, gouache and acrylic – suiting the medium to the subject of the painting.
