Biography
Having worked as an Architect,in design, painting and as a lecturer at the Leeds School of Architecture, art in many forms has been my life. My pictures have been exhibited extensively and examples are in private collections here and abroad, some as far way as Australia and Canada.
My pictures in addition to being realistic are also produced as Designer originals, creating subjects entirely from imagination, using watercolour, oil, acrylic, pastel, gouache, pen and wash or mixed media. As a successful painter and due to demand I now devote some time to teaching others as well as accepting commissions for special work.
I hope you enjoy looking at my work and if interested further, please contact me by:

Teachings
I enjoy helping others to improve their skills whether they are complete beginners or more advanced. My classes have been running during the winter months for years and a good many of the students just keep coming back even though some of them have achieved the 'trophy winning' stage. The classes are, I might add, more for pleasure than profit and the fee is kept very low in order to do no more than cover the running costs. I like my students to paint subjects of their own choice and in their own style. In other words, I teach them to paint as they wish, and not as I paint though I do demonstrate my methods as and when necessary according to individual needs. On a first visit I always aim to have them take home a finished painting, it doesn't have to be a masterpiece, just a painting that gives the satisfaction of achievement.
My classes are kept to a maximum of about eight people so that each one can have the attention they need.
I also carry out workshops and demonstrations for the clubs to which I belong and if invited,at other clubs

Awards
Throughout my career I have won many awards and 'best in shows' etc. and in 2005 won 'best in show' at an exhibition in the Pool Vilage Hall, Pool in Wharfedale. At the end of April 2006 I received the Forte Trophy for the fifth time from Bramhope Arts Club, Leeds - Best Picture of the Year 2006. This was of 'Port Merrion' created in Gouache and Watercolour which gives a very pleasing result, you will find this on my web pages. Incidentally, three of my students have also won this award and I must say I get more pleasure from that than winning it myself.
