Biography
As an artist my inspiration comes from mythological, allegorical and narrative themes. Living and working in Oxfordshire I am surrounded by wonderful rich landscape that is alive with old tales and stories. I am excited and inspired by them and they lead me to explore artistically the deep spiritual connection to this land
Painted in the classical tradition but infusing my modern life interpretations to these tales creates beautiful representational paintings that add a contemporary experience to the tradition of painting and allow the classical style to be accessible and shared with todays present audience.
A recurring theme in my art is the spiritual human presence of the subject in the paintings. Be it figures, portraits, still life or landscapes, my aim is for the viewer to be able to easily connect with the image.
This is one of the central guiding principles of my work, that there is an experience for the viewer, a connection between them and the subject, to capture and create a resonance, a feeling, an interaction. Even though my formal training finished over 15 years ago I still seek and build upon those artistic teachings, evolving and honing my techniques of past styles and bring them to a new generation.
Most of my work is for sale and is available for purchase through exhibitions, galleries and on-line. I also am available for commissions.
