Tuition

Teaching for South Nottingham College, New College Nottingham, Art Profile, CBPS and local art groups in Notts,Derbys,Lincs and liecs .
I teach and demonstrate for art groups up and down the country from Leeds to St Albans.
At Present my classes are Bingham monday mornings 9.30-11.30 Burton Joyce and Monday afternoons 1.30-3.30.
Tuesdays at West Bridgford college 7.00 till 9.00 On Wednesday afternoons at West Bridgford South Nottingham College 1.30-3.30. At Greythorne Drive centre.
Thurs evenings watercolour and Chinese brush painting classes at Sherwood Textile centre 6.30 to 9.30
On Fridays there is a watercolour class at Nottingham Academy from 9.00 to 11.00.
Then in the afternoon there is a class with the Age UK group in Sybil Levin centre in Basford 1.30 - 3.30.
Further classes at weekends are Carlton Chinese Brush Painters 10.00 to 12.00 on Saturady mornings.
SAS Wasps is at Chillwell Saturday afternoons 6.00 to 8.00.
We are thinking of organising some weekend residential workshops in the Southwell area if there is enough interest. Accomadation would be at Saracens Head and at West thorpe Barn Southwell.

 

Biography

I have always had an interest drawing and painting as I started at school by doing GCE and A level Art.
I went on to do an Art Foundation course at Nottingham Trent Polytechnic (which was the Old art college).I then did Architectural Ceramics as a Diploma course also at Nottingham Trent Polythechnic.
This lead me on to do my Art Teachers diploma at Liverpool Polytechnic and then as a refresher course I did a Cert Ed at Nottingham Trent University some years later.
In the mean time I also trained to be a Painter and Decorator at Basford Hall College gaining Advanced craft City and Guilds and D32 and D33 as an assessor for NVQ P&D.
I completed the Malaysian Institute Diploma course in Chinese Ink Painting by doing all 6 levels of the certificate course 1995 to 2002 by distant learning package.
I continue to update my Chinese painting skills by attending workshops with Chinese artists up and down the country.I am a member of IFL as I work for several colleges in Notts.

 

Exhibitions

I exhibit at local shows,local open art events and help to organise the Bramley Apple Painting Competition at the Bramley Centre in, King Street , Southwell Notts NG25 OEH.
I also organise the Marie Curie Daffodil Painting Competition every March again in the Bramley centre Southwell Notts. We have in addition the 2 Radcliffe on Trent open painting competuitions each year to show members work in.

 

Awards

Elected Associate member of the Nottingham Society of Artists in 1982.
Elected Arts officer for the Nottingham Chinese Community Association in 2004 and also hold the same office for Nottingham Chinese Welfare Association.
Current Chairman of Midland group of Chinese Brush Painters.
Appointed Tutor to Bingham Buttercross Art Group.
Chairman and Tutor of Trent Valley Art group which meets in Burton Joyce Village Hall.
Presented with 20 years service award from British Red Cross,(I organise the Red Cross Bramley Apple Painting competition each year as a fund raiser for them).
