Tuition

For eight years I taught botanical painting at the Berkshire College of Agriculture but now concentrate on private workshops with a small number of students to whom I can give individual attention. These take place in our own home several times each year, and each workshop lasts for three consecutive days. If you would like further details please write to minton@palmito.demon.co.uk

Biography

I am a botanical artist working principally in watercolour and I continually strive for botanical accuracy whilst maintaining a strong element of attractive design in my paintings. I have been awarded three Silver-gilt and one Gold medal for collections of botanical paintings, by the Royal Horticultural Society. Much of my work is commissioned either by individuals or companies, and my original paintings are in collections in a dozen countries from Australia to the USA.

I am particularly fond of painting Sweet Peas, wildflowers and mushrooms but relish the challenge of observing and representing any plant on paper. One of my more demanding commissions was providing the illustrations for the definitive monograph on British truffles, "British Hypogeous Fungi" published by the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.

Many of my paintings are also available as mounted prints, or framed under glass. In addition I also publish a range of thirty botanical greetings cards, and my designs are featured on a range of commercial products including jigsaw puzzles and many stationery items. Details can be found on my website www.palmito.demon.co.uk
