Artist Name: Derek NotonBiography
I was born in Greenwich in 1949 and moved to the North-East of England when I was six weeks old. I studied Art, Design and History for four years and later gained a Post-Graduate qualification.
I have left the "paint the ills of society" behind me and now try to record the changes that are happening in my part of the world, the South-East of England. Oasthouses. barns. cottages, Thames barges, fishing boats are all recurring themes in my work.
I paint similar scenes in Northern France where a similar culture is disappearing in a parallel way.
My work can be found around the world. I am represented on every continent except the Antarctic but I am working on that one.
