Tuition

I teach mixed ability classes from complete beginners to graduates.
The term starts with drawing, focusing on learning to see more clearly and look more closely.
Within the class, some students will concentrate on watercolour techniques or drawing, whilst others will experiment with new media or work on supportsthey haven't tried before.
We look at the work of a particular artist or period and work in the manner of the artist or perhaps impressionism or cubism.
Sometimes we experiment with monoprinting or lino cuts.
Occassionally we do imaginative work.
We try still life, flowers, landscapes, abstracts
I try to create a lively atmosphere, where students can learn while having fun and learn from each other as well as from me.

Biography

I was born in Jamaica and moved to England when I was 12. We settled in Cornwall near Truro and I went to Truro High and Falmouth Art School before spending 3 years at the Painting School of the Royal College of Art. My husband and I lived in a community where I learned to farm and worked in the workshop from which we exported handmade Design Center awarded puzzles all over the world. Later I moved to Oxford with my 3 children and first taught for Community Education and later on St Clare's graduate program. I moved to Somerset in 1997 so I could spend more time painting.
