About The Wet on Wet Oil Painting Technique
The wet on wet oil painting is a fascinating technique and a wonderful introduction into the Magic world of Oil Painting – it was made famous by William (Bill) Alexander and his TV Series “The Magic of Oil Painting”, and one of Bill’s famous students – Bob Ross and his hugely popular TV Series “The Joy of Oil Painting”. Both Bill and Bob could produce entire landscapes and seascapes in less than half an hour on their respective television shows!
The “secret” of this technique lies in the base medium – a thin oil base, such as Magic White or Liquid white which is applied to the acrylic primed canvas. This is the first layer of “wet”. Thicker paints are applied on top of this base making it easy to move, blend and mix colours directly on the canvas – this becomes the second layer of “wet” – hence the name “wet on wet”.
The special brushes and tools used for this technique (which look as though they are made for painting your garden fence) make it simple to create realistic trees and bushes, and to create soft fluffy clouds, the palette knife gives the ability to create dynamic mountains, and rock formations.
Art is NOT for the elite or gifted. Art is for us all, and absolutely ANYONE can learn to oil paint the beautiful paintings shown on this website regardless of skill or talent, and without the ability to draw. With my expertise and guidance you will discover a talent that will astound you. If you can hold a paint brush, you CAN paint.....I promise. I offer a full money back guarantee on your first oil painting class – if you are not happy with the results simply leave your canvas with me and you will get a full refund.
Within a few hours you will have a finished painting. It does not take weeks or months to complete. The speed of painting is one reason this style is becoming so popular, people’s lives have become increasingly busy and sadly there is less time to do the things that they have always wanted to do. Don’t struggle with a blank canvas – increase your artistic confidence and learn how to paint using this simple wet on wet oil painting technique and discover the creativity that lies within which is simply waiting for the chance to shine.
Is there a nicer way to relax and unwind than indulging in your passion for painting? There is nothing to lose and everything to gain – all the materials, brushes and canvas are all supplied for you – you just need to turn up to the small friendly class and let me do the rest. You can be assured of my full attention too, as I only take a maximum of six students in my private studio in Bolton, Lancashire.
