FLOWERS & GARDEN - PASTEL WORKSHOPS 2009
IPSWICH STUDIO & GARDEN
Two day workshops in June and July for beginners and intermediate students. Each course will be limited to just five places so each student will get plenty of individual attention. Students will need to bring their own pastels but will be able to try out all my pastels. Refreshments and buffet lunch will be included.

I have been a freelance interior and graphic designer most of my life, involved with the design of shops, exhibitions, offices and hotel refurbishments. This work involved me in selecting colours and materials, anything from rough tiles for a restaurant, knobbly fabric for an office reception, to shimmering silks for a luxury apartment.
Now as a full time artist I am still very interested in colour and textures, and I'm constantly experimenting with soft pastels - my favourite medium - sometimes mixing vibrant pastel with watercolour, acrylics and metallics creating stunning effects of bold colour and texture. My flower pictures have been reproduced by publishers on cards and prints, and are now sold worldwide. Some of the images produced for my one woman show in New York have been reproduced by Amcal in California for their 1998,1999 and 2001 calendars and an associated range of greetings cards. For 2002 they printed a wall calendar, a perpetual calendar and cards. Recently another American firm, Modernart, has reproduced many flower images as large prints.
Life drawing is another passion, and at present I am exploring light effects, reflections and movement of the figure. Four of these images have now been produced as limited edition prints. Recently two more images have been produced as large giclee prints. All are sold worldwide.
I am a member of the Society of Botanical Artists. My work is often on show in London and provincial galleries. I have shared a two man show at the Llewellyn Alexander gallery for the last ten years. I had a solo show at Jensen Fine Arts, New York, and took part in a mixed exhibition in Nantucket USA, both organised by Stephanie Hoppen.
I won The Founder President's Honour 2002 medal at The Society of Botanical Artists, a finalist's award for the Flowers and Gardens 2002 competition in the International Artists magazine, and the Schmincke Pastel Prize 2003 at the Society of Botanical Artists.
My work has been reproduced in many books and magazines, and is in many private collections in the UK, France, America, South Africa, HongKong, Taiwan, Japan and Switzerland.
Giclee Limited Prints - A4 & A3 prints of many of my images are available printed with certified long life inks on Fine Art Paper.
