Biography

I have been painting since the early 1990s, exhibit locally and produce a range of greetings cards from original works.

My interest in art lies in picture-making. To this end, I consider good, strong composition to be crucial. Instinctively seeking out patterns and shapes in the landscape, the often heightened sense of colour in my work reflects an intuitive, emotional response. I am fascinated by, and passionate about, the impact and possibilities of shape and colour.

As my work evolves I have become more interested in the process of drawing. I often incorporate drawing into my paintings now, or alternatively, enjoy working solely with pen and ink.

I work from sketches and sometimes use photographs for reference, but best of all, enjoy working en plein air.
