Biography

Margaret Ferguson


My main area of artistic interest has always been portraiture.
In 2006 I discovered the joys of soft pastels and I've painted continuously with them since then!

Professional
I work as a family doctor in the beautiful North of Scotland
Art has always played an important role in my life.

Artistic training
Regular classes in Glasgow School of Art.
Modules completed with 'Open College of the Arts'
Workshops and courses, including study under Ken Paine, master pastellist and portraitist
Life drawing classes (An Lanntair Arts Centre)


I'm very happy to undertake commissions.

October 2006
Participated in the exhibition 'Drawn'

March 2006 onwards
I've exhibited work in various venues locally, including regular participation in 'Grinneas nan Eilean', An Lanntair arts centre, Stornoway

July 2007
Named Amateur Artist of the Year by the SAA (Society for All Artists)

November 2007
Received the 'Prix d'Honneur' from the Societe de Pastellistes de France at their first European Pastel Conference.

July 2008
Selected by the Societe de Pastellistes to exhibit at the European Pastel exhibition, Limoges, France.
This is the main pastel festival of the year and attracts 20 000 visitors between July and September
