Julie Lightburn

York, North Yorkshire

I am a representational artist, working mainly in acrylics and pastels; noted for my detailed landscapes. I studied 3D Design & Craft at York College, followed by Visual Information Design at Sunderland; specialising in model making. I now have my own business providing a bespoke laser-cutting service for artists and craft workers, as well as model railway enthusiasts. Within my workshop I have my art studio - next to Dean's Garden Centre, Stockton-on-the-Forest, York. (Open to visitors by appointment)

I enjoyed art at school and spent much of my time as a child doing craft work in many and varied forms. As a young teenager I was inspired to want to become an "Artist" by exhibitions at York Theatre Royal. Some, twenty five years after leaving school I spent a week at Edinburgh College of Art and finally started the journey to turn my dreams into reality! Shortly afterwards I joined York Art Society where I have learnt a lot from, and been inspired by, the visiting professional artists. I now regularly exhibit and sell my work at the Societies exhibitions and have enjoyed taking part in various other exhibitions throughout Yorkshire. I'm delighted to have been selected to take part in York Open Studios for several years.
