I was born in the East of London in 1958 with a Paintbrush & Pencil in my hand !
During my school years various Art teachers said I showed great promise in my Art work & I should look to further my education and go to Art College. However this was not possible & at the "Ripe old age of 16" I was told by my mum to go and get a job!
I trained as a Carpenter which isn't surprising as my Grandfather was a Master Carpenter & Marquerty Craftsman-He often exhibited his work locally and won many prizes and awards.
Whilst training in Carpentry I continued to teach myself to Paint & draw & knew that one day my hobby would become my career.
In 1996 whilst on a holiday to Florida USA I attended a Bob Ross Art Workshop at his studio in New Smyna Beach Florida. I soon learnt that this was the only Bob Ross Gallery anywhere in the world. The technique that I was taught was "Wet on Wet" & the results were amazing.
Shortly after returning home I received a letter from my instructor at the Bob Ross Gallery (Pat Msbe)saying they were very impressed with my work & thought that I had the skills & ability to become a Bob Ross Instructor and would I be interested in qualifying as a Landscape Wildlife & Floral Instructor. My dreams were now becoming a reality.
Shortly after I had qualified in all 3 Techniques I was contacted by Annette Kowalski Bob Ross's business partner & now head of the Bob Ross Company saying she would like to have a meeting with me.
I flew out to Florida & over a Dinner Meeting Annette told me that they were looking to have a Teacher Trainer in the UK and would I like to be trained as the only Bob Ross Certified Teacher Trainer in the UK (I'm not practicing at the moment as all Instructor Training is carried out by the US CTT's)-What an Honour.
I do teach in other Mediums as well as Oils and Acrylics. My youngest student was 7 years my oldest 93. I have taught students with varying degrees of disabilities also a Blindman who's work can be seen on my website www.kirkglander.co.uk
My work is on display at my Studio in Suffolk. Viewings are by appointment only. Please contact me for details
I am a fully qualified Bob Ross Instructor in Landscapes, Wildlife, Florals and advanced Seascape Techniques. I am currently the only qualified UK Teacher Trainer. (Not practicing at this moment in time.)
I run regular workshops in Suffolk Cambridgeshire Essex Kent Nottingham and through out the UK. I also run regular Painting Holidays.
The 1 day Make and Take It Workshops guarantee that you will go home with a painting to be proud of. I also make Frames which are available to buy.
I supply all materials,use of brushes easel, paint etc all you need to bring with you is the desire to paint. Tea & Coffee are provided you may want to bring Lunch.
Classes start at 10am and normally finish mid afternoon. The price of a class is £45 per person no painting or drawing experience is required.
I do teach privatley and also carry out Demonstrations for Art Groups Womens Guilds & other societies. Please contact me for further details.
