Art is a very personal and objective subject. Whilst it is possible to teach technique, it is not possible to teach someone their own style, only to teach them how to develop themselves and their eventual style.
Right from the beginner stage I encourage students to express themselves and paint subjects that mean something to them, not just copy my style of painting.
My students learn the theory and techniques to paint accomplished pieces, but without putting my style and inspirations into these lessons, that part is personal to each artist.
Teaching students how to develop their own creativity and style is the where the real expertise and pleasure in teaching comes in.

I am a freelance artist, creating works inspired and influenced by the landscape and wildlife around us.
I love the moods and emotions that the different seasons provide, and convey this in my work.
I have been painting for as long as I can remember, and have won various competitions throughout this time. In the past I have mainly worked on a commission basis, which means painting to a clients brief.
Nowadays I teach and paint pieces for sale and exhibition, which are my subject choice, as well as continuing with commissions.
