Biography
Karen was a practising Chartered Physiotherapist for 22 years, then turned to develop her artistic skills around 10 years ago. Although primarily self taught, last year she gained full distinction for an HNC in Fine Art and has started a BA(Hons)degree in Fine Art at Wimbledon College of Art.
She is an active member of the Leatherhead and Dorking Art Groups. having been Exhibition Secretary 2000-4, Winter Programme co ordinator 2003-04 and Chairman for the latter since 2004. She is a full member of The Society of Floral Painters and Surrey Figurative Artists.
Annually, Karen has had work accepted for exhibition at the Mall Galleries with The Society of Women Artists and at Westminster Central Hall with The Society of Botanical Artists and has sold at both. She also shows her work successfully at local club exhibitions and galleries in London and the South East. She also opens her garden studio to the public as part of the Surrey Artists Open Studio week. For the past few years, Karen has hosted and organised charity painting days, exhibitions and 'Art4Kids' workshops raising over £16,000 for children with special needs.
She lives in Dorking with her husband, four children and garden farm.

Teachings
Although primarily self taught, Karen has attended many workshops and tutorials, including courses at Wimbledon School of Art and at Pound Farm School of Painting & Drawing where she has achieved a full distinction for her HNC in Fine Art.

Karen has given critiques, workshops and demonstrations to local art clubs and will start teaching intermediate watercolour classes as from January 2007.
