Biography
Jo Allsopp was born in Chirk, North Wales in 1970. Having had a keen interest in art for most of her life, she decided to take it up as a career. She has now successfully illustrated the book 'My Nana is an Alien' in collaboration with her aunt Diane Whitley. For this, they received a special emphasis award for bringing awareness to the disease Pulmonary Hypertension. The book has now received national media broadcasts, and is now out in the form of a speaking book. Jo has also received many commissions for businesses - murals were completed for Barneys, Jungle Madness and Swingboat nursery. She now runs an Arty party business for childen's parties with a difference. These have proved very successful and you can find more details on www.artyparties.info. She has also designed logos for local businesses and designed a Christmas card for the Company Ember regis along with a logo for Warwickshire Video. Most recent projects include 6 outdoor mosaics for Newbold Verdon Reading Garden and one for Markfield Reading Garden. A fully qualified Tutor, Jo occasionally works for Leicestershire County Council and has taught hundreds of students for many years. She now owns her own Art Gallery at Moira furnace in Derbyshire where regular classes and workshops take place. Jo now has a sister business called Sliksilver where beautiful, quality hand made pure silver jewellery is made on site. A new online shop will open in 2010. View Jo's updated website.

Teachings
I am a fully qualified tutor mainly teaching from my own premises in Derbys. I also teach on a private basis for art groups, W.I. meetings and corporate events (recently worked for Adidas on an art campaign and regularly work with Pulmonary Hypertension Association UK). I also teach full day workshops throughout the Country at beautiful locations with only fully qualified artists and tutors who can give professional advise and guidance. These run fortnightly on a range of topics and in different media. I have just completed a series of mosaics situated in the reading gardens at Markfield library and Newbold Verdon and now teach classes in this new and exciting medium. Something else i am enjoying at the moment, is teaching classes on how to make 99.9% silver jewellery.
