Jenny Storey
I studied art in York and Hong Kong and graduated from the Open University when my family was young and we were all living in Hong Kong. Subsequently I gained a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education and several years of teaching in schools and Further Education followed. In 1989 I devised and wrote Correspondence Courses in Watercolour, Drawing and Calligraphy which I continue to teach.
I love painting in watercolour as the vibrancy and transparency of the colours are so exciting and unpredictable. My subjects are a direct result of this deep love of colour. The interaction of shapes, spaces and colours are such a challenge to convey on paper and I enjoy building up my painting like a mosaic.
Exhibition at The Courtyard Gallery, Market St. Malton, North Yorkshire from 16th October 2006 to February 2007.
Jenny is an experienced teacher and and enthusiastic practitioner of Watercolour painting and Silk Painting as well as Calligraphy. In addition to running her own correspondence courses she has demonstrated on television and at exhibitions as well as contributing articles to various publications.
Whichever type of course they choose all students are encouraged to develop their own particular interests and talents to the full as well have an enjoyable time! Jenny strives to create an environment which is informal yet provides intensive tuition and advice which helps to build students' confidence.
Correspondence Courses in Watercolour, Drawing and Calligraphy have been written with the intention of allowing a student to study at their own pace in their own home. There are many options available and Beginners or those with more experience will find a course suitable for their needs.
Students are able to study at home in their own time and there are no time limits or a set amount of time required to be set aside each week. The courses are intended to fit around students' lives so that they can be enjoyable and beneficial instead of becoming a chore.
As each course unfolds students are encouraged to extend their own work with plenty of friendly advice and guidance.
