Janette Summerfield gained a degree in Three Dimensional Design at Birmingham Polytechnic (now Birmingham City University)and practised as a commercial interior designer for several years. She exhibits regularly with the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists at their gallery in St Paul's Square, Birmingham and the Society of Women Artists at the Mall Galleries in London. Her paintings have also been displayed at the Cowleigh Gallery, Malvern. Her work 'What Lies Beyond' was selected for 'Simply the Best!' competition and exhibition at Art Materials Live in Birmingham in 2007. Her painting 'Vitalism II' was awarded Runner Up in the Artist & Illustrator's Artist of the Year 2009 Competition. She was elected a Member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists in 2010 and a Member of the Society of Women Artists in 2009. She also exhibits regularly with the Birmingham and Midland Pastel Society.
