Tuition

I am hoping that you may be tempted to join me on one or even more of the Holidays, Courses or Workshops in the coming months of 2009 that will be updated on my website from time to time. If you have any specific ideas for workshops which you would like to discuss with me, please contact me.

Workshops:

My weekly `atellier` in France is continuing to give stimulus to all concerned – me included – we go out and about into the vineyards, villages and by invitation to various local chateaux and historic houses in the locality to paint both interiors and in the parks and gardens. The occasional grey day brings us back into the studio to work on ideas from our sketchbooks, developing techniques and ways to move on.

Occasionally too, by request, I run workshops for two and three days in the locality, which with small groups is good for all concerned.

Contact me for details of these creative days. jb.devereux@wanadoo.fr

I also be visited the UK during the year, running one and two-day workshops for various art groups. For more information or if you would like me to visit your local art group to run a tailor made workshop or course, or give a demonstration and talk, please contact me to discuss.

Courses and painting holidays in France:

A super week was spent at Mas-Saurine in the Pyrennees in April/May, situated at the foot of Mt Canigou with views all round and a very attractive studio for those occasional `off-days` - visit www.mas-saurine.com for more information on future courses in 2009.

In June 2008 I was again at La Maison Verte for a week – visit www.lamaisonverte.co.uk for details. The website says it all – and more – but if you would like to know more from me, just let me know.

Workshops on board ship!!

Our latest trip took us to Chile, Antarctic and the Inca trail in January/February 2008. More to come later next year, so keep looking for details on my website. For details on these on-board experiences contact SAGA. We are lucky enough to sail on their new small ship The Spirit of Adventure and it certainly is that! I paint and draw whilst travelling anyway, and am allotted time to spend time with the other passengers whilst at sea, helping anyone who wishes to try watercolours and sketching the places we visit. I am always thrilled with how the numbers grow as the voyage progresses – word gets around on a ship, and even with the limited time we have together, everyone produces something and it certainly helps people to learn to look and see a lot more! Biography

Jackie is greatly influenced by the graphic quality of Japanese art, and the light of her adopted country France. Her first love is pure watercolour, but she is equally at home with pen and ink as well as pastels and fine art printmaking. She will quite often incorporate an element of calligraphic work into a collage with fine hand embossing, which she has pioneered. All of these disciplines have evolved over a number of years during which time she has shared her knowledge and experience by running workshops and courses, painting holidays and latterly writing. Unusually, Jackie is just as happy producing small intimate studies as her large watercolour compositions with a simple but pure and bright pallette. Her subject range is wide, from still life to people in places, to architecture and landscape.

Jackie`s unique selling proposition is that she will, apart from creating work for her exhibitions, take on commissions for the business environment, hotels and offices, as well as for private clients, interpreting their own properties and interiors in her unique style. Her award-winning watercolours are widely collected and Jackie is always willing to travel where possible to meet and discuss new work and to offer her expertise by way of workshops wherever these may be. During the Summer of 2005, Jackie was the “Artist in Residence” aboard the ‘Braemar' teaching on board as it cruises the Baltic taking in such places as Oslo, St Petersburg, Tallin and more.

Jackie is a regular contributor to the specialist art magazine - 'The Artist' and has also written for "Leisure Painter". She appears with several other contemporary artists in "Watercolour Innovations" published by Harper Collins in April 2005.
