Tuition

Due to popular demand following demonstrations at local exhibitions and art clubs, Heather qualified in 2003 as a further education tutor. She now runs independent workshops and 10 or 12 week courses on drawing people and pets locally , taking students from beginner, to intermediate and higher levels. Detailed instruction, handouts and demonstrations each week with plenty of individual tuition.

She also runs a drawing club called The Graphite Group, attended by previous students who wish to continue their drawing with friends.

Heather feels passionately that anyone can learn to draw given the determination and willingness to practise. But don't just take her word for it -
The 'My Galleries' page shows student work at different levels and is updated regularly as students progress through the courses. Much of the work you see at beginner level has been completed in a 10 week period by complete beginners. Others have drawn as a child and returned to it later in life.

It is a time consuming but totally absorbing occupation and so rewarding when you see your subject come to life in front of your eyes.

Come along and have a try - you would be amazed at what you can achieve given the right tuition.

 

Biography

Heather D Lewis lives and works from home in Ferndown, Dorset. She has many years experience as a professional portrait artist specialising in detailed, realistic drawing.

She has done much work locally, attending local art/craft fairs and exhibitions and has received commissions as far a field as France, Italy, Canada and Australia.

She very much enjoys passing on her knowledge and experience of portrait drawing in her teaching and is passionate about making it accessible and achievable to others.
