Derek is a traditional watercolourist who covers a wide range of work, but who thoroughly enjoys teaching people how to use watercolours. His regular 10-week courses are on Mondays at Tresillian near Truro, Cornwall. They usually start in January, April and September and are each now limited to a maximum of 14 places.
Derek has total empathy with those who would love to paint but who are nervous or have doubts in their ability. He is an enthusiastic tutor who firmly believes that people should enjoy rather than worry about their watercolours. He enjoys encouraging his students and helping them to overcome their fear of mistakes.
He also has his studio at home and can provide small group and individual tuition by arrangement.
Derek lives in Luxulyan, Cornwall and is a Traditional Watercolourist who started painting professionally in 2001 while living in Norfolk. He moved to Cornwall in 2005. Although he favours landscape, coastal and harbour scenes he does have a wider range, enjoying the character of watercolours in almost any subject. His studio is at home near the beautiful Luxulyan Valley.
