Biography

Denise Butler I am a self- taught artist living and working in the Hertfordshire area. I have always loved art, but never had the time to completely dedicate to it due to work commitments. In the last couple of years I have now managed to realise my dream and now work full-time as an artist. I love what I do and feel very fortunate to be able to paint for a living. I am particularly interested in architecture, and I love to paint the various different types of buildings seen the world over. So many countries are defined by their architecture.I like to look at a building and see how time and the elements have changed these structures- often adding to their beauty. I also love to draw the natural wonders of this world and trees are a great fascination. So many different varieties, and all so unique.These are also so altered by time and nature. I specialise mostly in very fine detailed pen and ink work, and rarely use other mediums. This work is very time consuming and doesn't leave alot of room for error. I am constantly striving to find new techniques and ways of using inks to make my work completely different and unique. I  sell originals and a selected number of limited editions . I also welcome commissions. I have recently been selected to exhibit with the SGFA , and have appeared in several of the big Artist publications.
