JEAN BRONSON was born in 1935, in Fulham, London. Soon after the start of the war in 1939, she was evacuated to Hertfordshire, where her love of the countryside was born. Although Jean enjoyed drawing and painting as a child, she didn’t pursue this interest until aged 39 and living in west London. With her children growing up and spare time on her hands she commenced evening classes. After a few years learning her craft, Jean started exhibiting her work in local art shows with some success and this gave her the confidence to approach a gallery in West London. Jean was accepted on a trial period which was so successful that she was awarded a permanent exhibitors place. This relationship went on for many successful years, as well as exhibiting in many local venues around the London area.
Jean has also had paintings accepted for the annual exhibition by The Society of Women Artists in Central Hall, Westminster, London.
Now living in Hampshire, Jean has found a rich source of subject matter in the beauty of the New Forest and surrounding areas and has found new venues to exhibit her artwork with further success and has been voted by the public for the last 2 years best picture in show as well as winning the Barbara Spreadbury Rose Bowl Award at the Christchurch Arts Guild Shows.
Jean’s love of art has been passed onto her children and grandchildren, all of whom have become involved in various areas of the arts.
