Powerpoint presentations considering existing artists work and styles of art in order to understand the background to our painting.
I have used this in my art club with interesting discussions and feed back from colleagues.
Biography
Born in Harwich Essex, and having returned for my retirement I experience the ever - changing mood of the sea and sky that surrounds this peninsula, together with the peace and solitude that this brings. I am a self-taught free lance Artist and Photographer, my approach to art is straightforward. Simple and uncomplicated results give me the most satisfaction. My preference is for work to be created plein air on location.
Painting and photography are complimentary art forms. I attempt to paint with my camera. Visits to galleries over the years have broadened my knowledge and I have been an accredited Workers Education Association tutor in photography, art and architecture courses for mature students. I am a national subject adviser in painting for the University of the Third Age under the heading "Painting for Pleasure" and run a painting group in my local area. Member of Colchester Art Society.
The vibrant colours of the Mediterranean have influenced and stimulated the emotional and creative background to my art. Working from my studio in the Lake District I also experienced this first hand. I am not driven by a pre-conceived style other than to be as free and natural as the mood takes me. Apart from specialist commissions detail is left to the camera. Paintings are conceived in acrylics, pen and ink, oil and watercolour. The use of the media is varied and depends on the subject matter. The finished work gives me a great deal of satisfaction if that pleasure can be shared with others.
Various one-man exhibitions in all media have been mounted in Essex and the North East during recent years. Work has been awarded prizes in photographic competitions. VIBRANT WATERCOLOURS FOR THE FRIGHTENED courses.Available for one to one guidance on most mediums. A similar course is being arranged on basic colour control and composition.
I sell fine art limited edition prints of paintings, photographs and cards as well as original art and am willing to undertake commissions on a negotiable fee basis. All work will be unframed. People often like to choose their own frames to suit their own environment. Brian Hogg April 2013
