I am a self taught painting artist who has been practicing for these last 11 years or so (Started around 2000). Although I used to draw a lot as a child I never pursued anything further especially as a teenager. In fact, I let go of any kind of drawing altogether and there was a long lull.
However, after dabbling in acrylic paint and having got used to the medium, but not by painting pictures, I tried it out on my first painting. I am glad that I did and that encouraged me further as too the admiration for many great artists out there and from the past as well. I also draw inspiration from almost anything whether it has been seen, heard or felt.
Like I mentioned, I started out with acrylic which I really love for its versatility, but I also like using watercolour and oils. The choice of medium usually depends on what I want out of the painting and sometimes the season dictates too. Subjects and styles vary and from time to time I like to add a piece to some of my different series that I have created. For instance I have my birds, kinetic art and I'd really like to put more effort in my surrealism. I have many ideas and whenever I can, I try to paint them out.
Painting has become a passion, a comfort, an expression. It has helped me lot and I derived a lot from it. I feel that I have developed and improved from when I began and I know that I have much more to learn. It is an enticing subject and allows one to depict imagination into an actual picture for others to see.
