Biography
Patricia Mears
Since returning to South Wales after many years teaching in the West Midlands I have developed my creative work. The peace and tranquility of the rugged coastline and surrounding countryside proved to be an inspirational place. The natural beauty of the area inspires my creative spirit and serves to aid the exploration of colour, texture, technique, pattern and materials that play an important part in the develoment of my work.
My sketch book and camera are used to both record and develop my ideas and I frequently use distortion to inspire my abstract work. I often work on a theme for several paintings, exploring the subject in different colourways or media.
Help for Heroes. Heroes includes a series of paintings based on photographs taken in recent war zones by my sons, their friends and fellow soldiers together with other work inspired by images in the press and on TV. At present I exhibit the original paintings and sell mounted prints and cards hoping to sell the originals at a later date. All proceeds from sales are donated to the Help for Heroes Charity, total raised to date is £2.050. I have held five 'Heroes' exhibitions and I am looking for more available exhibition spaces.
I am interested in developing art in the community and take an active part in three local art groups.
