Biography

My background first, born in a small market town in Northamptonshire where my father had an antique restoration business. We moved to Wales in 1971 to a derelict farm in Carmarthenshire, where we lived/camps on the farm for four years without electricity and running water. So without the distraction of television most of my brothers and sisters and I were fairly creative, and it seemed like we never had enough time to be creative but looking back we had to be creative to get all the work done on the farm in a traditional manner.

I have worked most of my life in the construction industry from being a plumber to building houses, but a large proportion of my working life I have been involved in designing fitting high end bespoke bathrooms for the likes of England football players rugby stars and prominent public figures, Which most of I have thoroughly enjoyed being able to use my creative skills.

This is where my love of painting started where I made bespoke glass and ceramic tiles which I painted. So when I started painting with watercolour in 2011 I found it the most natural thing to be doing, and took to it like a duck to water.

I have numerous hobbies and interests from playing the guitar to walking canoeing and boating and fishing building traditional watercraft green woodworking spoon carving and painting. I also have a great love for the great outdoors especially the remote corners of the Western Highlands of Scotland, I also like the unspoilt coastline of Norfolk and Suffolk where I get a huge amount of inspiration for my paintings. I also spend a lot of my time in the Welsh marches and Herefordshire, where there is a wealth of ancient woodlands to inspire me.

For the past two years I have been a house dad which has allowed me to explore my creative side, and as a result I am back at college studying for a teaching qualification. So to pay the bills I am working for my local authority part-time with volunteer groups in and around our local park lands. I also sell some of my paintings and wood carvings as and when I have time to exhibit them.
I won The best beginner landscape woodland scene, artist of the year competition 2012 with The Society for all Artists, which was a huge boost to me.
