In my teaching I aim to help students get to grips with the basics of colour theory, colour mixing, papers, perspective, composition etc, which they can build on to develop a sound knowledge base. I encourage experimentation and "having a go" - after all it is only a piece of paper that might be wasted if it goes horribly wrong, which it won't !
I now run art classes ( beginners groups and improvers group) in my own studio at Weybread, near Harleston, Norfolk, and I also run day workshops there, sometimes on a specific topic and others as developmental sessions where students can work on their own topics at their own pace and with guidance from me.
In East Anglia we have a wealth of subject matter: sea, skies, boats, harbours, rivers, villages, towns - to name but a few, and in the summer months I organise painting trips for small groups.
