Trained as a professional engineer, including working on Concorde design in the sixties and seventies, I took up painting more or less full time after being made redundant. Self-taught, I have tried various media but now work exclusively in oils as I find this gives the flexibility I need. Most of the subject matter reflects my interests in ships, trains, aircraft and motor racing. Whilst an engineering background drives me to seek accuracy in my work I equally try to achieve atmosphere and a sense of time and place and in my my motorsport paintings a feeling of speed.
My work has been exhibited widely in the UK; I have held solo exhibitions at the Toll House Gallery Clevedon, I regularly take part in the North Somerset Arts Week, I have paintings shown at a leading gallery in Bristol and my motorsport art has been shown at top events at Silverstone, Goodwood and the Donington Grand Prix Collection.
