I live in Frome, Somerset. I am qualified in teaching adults and love to encourage and inspire, while hopefully being entertaining as well.
My own journey in art has been recent and rapid and I appreciate the amount of information and setbacks which can afflict the beginner in art, from choosing mediums and the trepidation of entry to exhibitions, to success and sales at a major exhibition. In art, the sky's the limit.
I work quickly in my mediums and subjects of choice and love, personally, to experiment. I hope that my demonstrations and workshops are nourishing and informative as well as good fun!
Please see my website www.annetteburkittartist.com for more details of workshops and demonstrations.

Annette Burkitt: Biography :
Some know me as Annie.
Self taught artist, with a background in archaeological research, particular interest the landscape and prehistoric to Dark Age developments.
Degree in Archaeology and Geography from Southampton University and teaching and research thereafter.
I have always drawn and painted but have been looking forward to concentrating on developing my art as an older (wiser?) observer. I've got there and I'm doing it. A good painting crosses the frontiers of the senses: music, drama, feeling, even taste and smell may be activated. I love trying to make paintings sing, to stimulate the imagination, that much neglected part of our souls, not to fear the dark but to relish it, and the light, as great, great gifts for our inner worlds.
My style as a watercolourist is energetic and free, usually colourful.
I also work in gouache, pastels, acrylic and oils. The oils tend towards abstract primitivism.
I am currently (2013) Workshop organiser for Frome Art Society.
I am always wiling to do demos, workshops and commissions, give me a challenge!
