They say life begins at retirement! I am now teaching watercolour and pen & wash to passengers on the P&O cruise liners! Wow what a job, it is great fun and very enjoyable for students and myself alike.
We have a moderately structured set of lessons going from fairly basic ideas to covering many types of paintings. My idea is to give 'building blocks' so that students can then move on to their own style and ideas.
I now have the dates for this year, 2013! already.
P&O Cruise N305 Ventura, Barbados to Southampton, 8th March - 22nd March 2013
P&O Cruise E305 Oceana, Canary Isles and Maderia, 30th March - 11th April 2013
P&O Cruise E308 Oceana, Western Med. 13th April - 27th April 2013
P&O Cruise D318 Adonia Caribbean 22nd November - 20th December 2013
I also teach in my Studio at home, and of course workshops and demonstrations for Art Groups and Clubs.
I was born in Carlisle and since then have moved around the country and abroad. I have a deep love of outdoor life so finally settling in Lincolnshire is a real delight. The great skies and distances are made for fresh and clear watercolour.
I started painting about 4 years ago,
landscapes with water appeal most but I like to have a building or structure of some kind to offset the gentleness of nature.
The contrast between tones and shapes with deep, clear colours is exciting and I try to convey this in my work. The Norfolk Coast and southern Ireland have introduced me to the enjoyment of boats and coastlines.
Commissions are welcome, I paint from photographs and also sketches and paintings done in situ.
I exhibit at the Sleaford Art Event annually.
