My painting is all about a love of nature and the excitement I get from the colours and the shifting light. I love painting outdoors and from a young age I have been inspired by travelling through the landscape on my bike and on foot. I hope that others feel this connection with nature & the wonder of it when they look at my work. I always insist on drawing from life whenever possible I and make colour sketches and notes as well as take photos of my subject. I am always studying about art and trying to improve my skills and understanding as an artist as I believe we should never stop learning. I have been running adult and childrens' workshops for several years now, which have proved very popular. My favourite workshops are the 'en plein air' as my first love is always painting outdoors. My weekly adult classes give me great fulfillment and my students have ben very proud of their progress. I have a solid teaching background of teaching in Secondary schools and I have a good empathy with others, encouraging individual style whilst empathising the importance of good technique. I know how to write challenging yet accessable lessons, and each lesson will slowly build on the previous skills; so my students are confident and have solid foundations which they can build on. I have had several exhibitions, have paintings in hospital collections and local collections and I have completed several commissions to date. I am still exploring different themes in my own work and love experimenting and trying to abstract my work.
