Roy Lang
Roy Lang from Truro, Cornwall is a Professional Associate member of the SAA and won the 'Artist of the Year 2002' competition with his painting titled ‘Solomon Browne’s Penultimate Light’. This was dedicated to the crew of the Penlee lifeboat and her crew who perished on the 19th December 1981, whilst attempting a courageous rescue in hurricane force winds of the crew and passengers of the Union Star under the cliffs near Lamorna Cove, Cornwall. Prints of the winning painting are available from Roy for £35 plus £2 p&p
Roy, who has been painting for just seven years says “If asked for advice on taking up art I would say, do it for the love of it. Paint the subject you have a real passion for. Expect and accept comments like “that’s nice… what is it?” and, of course be prepared to accept criticism but, DON’T GIVE UP! Last but not least, join the SAA as they truly live up to their motto to ‘Inform, Encourage and Inspire’ ”.
